Solene Bernier
Solène Bernier is a contemporary dance artist based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. A 2019 graduate of École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal, Solène brings an inquisitive and collaborative spirit to both performance and creation.
She has performed in works such as May the Best Loser Win by Cheline Lacroix (F-O-R-M Festival, Vancouver) and Bradley Eng’s work for Festival Quartiers Danses in Montréal. Since relocating to Nova Scotia, Solène has worked with a range of local companies and artists including Votive Dance, Mocean Dance, Emma Kerson, and Liliona Quarmyne.
Her artistic practice is deeply informed by ongoing research and interdisciplinary exploration. She has participated in choreographic labs and workshops such as Mocean Dance’s CLEaR Forum, the Nova Scotia Masterworks Future Masters Program, and the Creative Music Workshop in partnership with the Halifax Jazz Festival.
Recent performance highlights include Lydia Zimmer’s The Devil’s Intervals (Live Art Dance’s Mainstage series) and Lizard of Pause: Girly Epic, choreographed by Alyssa Martin of Toronto’s Rock Bottom Movement, presented by Metonym Circus.
Solène has furthered her professional development internationally, attending the b12 Festival for Contemporary Dance and Performance Art in Berlin for two consecutive summers (2023 and 2024). She is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts at Dalhousie University, expected fall 2025.
With a growing body of work and a commitment to artistic experimentation, Solène continues to explore the boundaries of movement, performance, and community connection.
