  • We offer a range of programs designed to support dancers of all ages, abilities, and goals. Our services include recreational and intensive dance classes for children and youth, summer and March Break camps, an engaging program for adult students, and performance opportunities throughout the year.

    We are also proud to offer our Inclusive Movement program, which provides accessible dance experiences for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities as well as Aging Actively, a program designed for older adults in the community.

    In addition, we offer rental space and discounted studio rates through our Companies in Residence Program for artists and companies in our region.

    Our goal through our in-studio work and outreach initiatives is to create a welcoming environment where every dancer can grow, express themselves, and feel part of a supportive community.

  • We are conveniently located in the heart of Halifax, within the Maritime Centre at 1505 Barrington Street. There are entrances on both Barrington Street and Salter Street.

    *The main entrance doors on Barrington Street are locked daily at 6pm.

    Halifax Dance is located on the lobby level, near the elevators.

  • You can create an account on Mindbody and sign up for Halifax Dance classes there, or through our registration page on the website.

    Our front desk staff is always happy to help with in-person registration as well.

  • We encourage our adult dancers to wear whatever makes them feel most comfortable and confident. There’s no requirement to wear traditional ballet attire like tights or a bodysuit—unless that’s what you prefer. Whether it’s leggings, a t-shirt, or layered activewear, the goal is simply to allow for ease of movement while feeling like yourself in the studio.

    For our Recreational and ITP dancers, we’ve adopted an inclusive dress code designed to support comfort and celebrate individuality. You can find more details about full guidelines here.

    Halifax Dance also offers a wide array of merchandise and dance attire for kids and adults sold at our front desk.

    Dance Card of 5 (1.25 hours) - $90.00

  • Yes! We offer professional studio rentals for rehearsals, private lessons, workshops, and more. With five studio spaces available, all equipped with sprung flooring, mirrors, barres, and sound systems (with select studios also offering pianos and acoustic panels), we have options to suit a variety of needs.

    Rentals are available at hourly, daily, or weekly rates, with pricing varying based on usage type (non-revenue, private lessons, or revenue-generating activities) and whether you are a student, non-profit, or for-profit organization. Bookings must be requested in advance (minimum 48 hours) through our online form, and availability is confirmed by our team.

    Please note that Halifax Dance programming is prioritized, and additional fees may apply for bookings outside regular hours.

  • There is a mix of on-street and nearby lot options for parking near Halifax Dance. Metered street parking is available along Barrington and surrounding streets, operating on a pay-by-plate system during weekdays (typically 8am-6pm) and free evenings, weekends and holidays.

    There are also several nearby surface lots and parkades including one on Salter Street and additional parking along the waterfront and Lower Water Street, offering flexible hourly and daily rates.

    Overall, visitors can usually find parking within a short walk, though availability may vary during peak downtown hours.
