Michele King
Originally from Montréal, Québec, Michèle King began her dance journey over two decades ago with a deep love for tap. After relocating to Nova Scotia, she expanded her training under the Society of Russian Ballet and completed examinations with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association in both Jazz and Tap. As a high school student, Michèle was a member of the Maritime Dance Performance Group, a pre-professional youth company based in Halifax. Her passion for movement led her back to Montréal, where she pursued a degree in Contemporary Dance at Concordia University. While there, she performed at the Festival Bouge d’Ici and debuted her first independent choreographic work as part of The Griffintown Project. Returning to Nova Scotia, Michèle served as Artistic Director of the Maritime Dance Performance Group from 2014–2016. She has since focused on performance and choreography, working as an interpreter with Votive Dance in productions such as What We Want (2016), Homeplace (2018), and Love You Madly (2019). Her own choreographic works include Who>?, which premiered in Votive Dance’s 2017 mainstage production, and Alone Time, presented by Kinetic Studio in 2019.
