Lauren Harris
“Lauren is a passionate dance educator from Saint John, New Brunswick and is so excited to begin teaching for Halifax Dance this year! Presently based in Halifax, she specializes in Contemporary, Hip Hop and Jazz styles.
Lauren grew up in the competitive dance space, where she first received awards for her teaching and choreographing abilities. Most notably, Lauren was recently the Head Choreographer for Daltheatre’s production of Chicago and is a veteran Instructor and the former President of the Daldance Society. She holds a BSc Medical Sciences degree at Dalhousie University with a certificate in Dance and Movement through the Fountain School of Performing Arts, and begins the Dalhousie PharmD program in September, 2026.
Lauren’s experience in both competitive and more abstract dance spaces has inspired a balanced dance instruction model which fuses these two often contrasting styles. She enjoys focusing on the foundational technique that makes dance such a difficult sport, but also exploring how musicality, storytelling, bodily/ spatial awareness and pure joy for dance can combine in the studio and onstage to create a well rounded dance artist. More than anything, Lauren strives to create a space where each dancer feels safe and encouraged to both challenge and further understand themselves through movement.”
