Julia Barkhouse
Julia Barkhouse began her dance journey at the age of four, training in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern in her home province of Nova Scotia. A dedicated and talented student, she completed her Advanced 2 RAD exam with Distinction and attended prestigious summer intensives at Canada’s National Ballet School, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and L’École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec.
In 2019, Julia was accepted into Canada’s National Ballet School under the direction of Mavis Staines. Upon graduation, she furthered her training in Vancouver at Arts Umbrella’s Graduate Program, led by Artemis Gordon, where she had the opportunity to perform works by renowned choreographers such as Crystal Pite, Ethan Colangelo, and William Forsythe.
Now back home in Nova Scotia, Julia is excited to be sharing her passion for dance through teaching while also pursuing a degree in Psychology at Dalhousie University. She brings a strong technical foundation and contemporary artistry to every class she leads.
