Maya has been twirling around Halifax Dance and calling it dancing since the age of three. She is a graduate of the Intensive Training Program at Halifax Dance and performed in Symphony Nova Scotia’s The Nutcracker for three years. Maya trained with the Dance Summer Dance summer program in Ross Creek, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Summer School, and the Quinte Ballet Summer School. Maya was a member of the YOung COmpany of Halifax Dance for four years, having the opportunity to work with artists from all across Canada. Maya also performed in Halifax Dance’s Viennese Opera Ball as a debutant in its opening year. Since graduating from her Bachelor of Science degree at Carleton University in Ottawa, Maya is back movin’ and groovin’ in the studio as a member of thirtySomething Dance Co-Op. She is excited to showcase her first choreographic work in this year’s 2017 show. Maya is also a graduate of the Yoga Alliance Children’s Yoga Teacher program with Grow A Lotus studio and teaches the after school yoga program at the Sacred Heart School of Halifax. Maya assists with the Inclusive Movement program at Halifax Dance and has two years experience teaching Ballet, Jazz, and Modern.
